my thoughts on "shaun of the dead" (2004)
this is a movie that i have been meaning to watch for a while mainly because of its director. I love love love edgar wright’s adaptation of scott pilgrim vs. the world, and i was wondering if my love for his editing & cinematography would transfer into his other works. and BOY, it sure has!
something that i really enjoyed about both this movie and scott pilgrim was wright’s use of these long, panning shots, and his seamless and buttery smooth scene transitions. every part of his movies is so meticulously and creatively cut together in a way that’s super satisfying and interesting to watch! it helps to really keep the energy of each scene alive in my opinion.
as for the actual humor of the movie, i found it right up my alley! something about this movie deeply reminded me of eddsworld in the best way possible. i used to be a HUGE eddsworld fan and i can tell that edd gould must have really loved this movie… i kept hearing songs that he put in his own show and the overall style and way the jokes were put together felt so eddsworld to me.
this is a bit of a spoiler (for a 22 year old movie but ehhhhhh. still a spoiler), but i really liked the scene where shaun walked out of his crappy apartment and noticed absolutely nothing wrong with the mundane british neighborhood before him now infested with zombies. i thought that scene was particularly amusing. not sure why i liked it so much but yeah!!!
i thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it might be one of my new favorites!!! highly recommend it if you are a scott pilgrim fan or just someone who likes snappy british humor.

review of "marvin the album" (1992) by frente!
wow!!!! my first blogpost!!!! how exciting :D
after a thrifting trip yesterday, i found this album on cd for about 3 bucks and was intrigued by the cover (the whole cd & lyric book is designed in a very aesthetically pleasing way in my opinion.) it was surprisingly quite nice! the album itself is australian folk-pop/indie pop. i really like the vocalist here (her name is angie hart). the overall vibe of the album/instrumentation surrounding her voice (although her voice is always the center of the tracks) varies throughout the album (some tracks are almost jazzy, while others are very minimalistic in their composition) but it stays really pleasant all around! her voice is very sweet sounding, i'm not sure why it reminds me of freshly picked berries. overall, i would reccommend this album, it's a solid LP! thank you australia for the sweet tunes :)
by the way, my favorite track off this album was "lonely". it has a really cool music video. go check it out!!!
